A scientific institution rooted in Cameroon.
GWES — the Association Geo-Water and Environmental Solutions — was constituted to advance rigorous science on water resources and environmental systems, design data-driven projects, build local capacity, and inform policy with evidence.
Formally registered under Cameroonian Law N°90/053 of 19 December 1990, GWES operates as a non-profit association. Its founding bureau combines complementary expertise — and the association is structured to grow by commissioning specialist talent through subcontracting while retaining scientific judgment and institutional accountability internally.
Generate, validate, and apply environmental knowledge — for people and ecosystems.
GWES exists to bridge the gap between scientific evidence and on-the-ground decision-making. Whether the request is a hydrogeological assessment, a community training programme, a commissioned environmental study, or a policy brief, GWES brings disciplined methodology, transparent reporting, and a commitment to leaving partners more capable than we found them.
An orchestrator, not a silo.
GWES retains internal scientific judgment, strategic direction, contract management, and quality assurance — and engages specialist expertise through structured subcontracting whenever a project requires it. This model lets a small founding bureau operate at the scale and breadth of a much larger institution, while preserving accountability for every output.
The bureau
GWES is governed by an elected bureau and supported by employed staff and subcontracted specialists. The bureau sets strategy, approves budgets, and validates scientific outputs.
